Teurn Studios doesn’t kiss on the first date. When all you see is black and you are the almost bulimic fashion buffet type it might be easy to swipe left here. Dig deeper and you will start to feel the tickle, see the light. There are stories here! Memories, pictures from the past and promises of a future with staying power. Just boom! …and before you know it, things are getting heated up and BIG WANT is created. Cool Crazy Classics prepared by Anna Teurnell being served.
Once you get fashion literate and understand the message these design will forever be in the archives of your fashion mind. I still think about those blue booties with the round toes that the designer made for Finnish brand Marimekko while working as the company’s creative director some years ago. Why oh why did I not buy them?
Not to mention the tall Silver iconic Glitter boots, by her own brand Teurn Studios. Those have been regulars at all and every red carpet event in Stockholm for many years! These boots, with their low heel, are made for walking as well, not just for laying down.
Another memorable design is the Mini Fringes Skirt, a versatile piece of fashion that can be worn over jeans or leggings or why not with an over sized blazer and chunky boots.
Anna is fascinated by things that at first feel odd and sometimes even ugly. Almost every week she scouts inspirational looks in her local charity shop Humana close to Maria Torget on Södermalm in Stockholm where her head quarters and home is.
Remember the taxi driver’s leather jackets from the eighties? Anna has designed an updated version it. And of course it is über cool with it’s rounded slouchy shoulders and soft premium black leather.
The Teurn Studios Cargo pants are made of the finest Italian wool and have long ribbons swishing around as you move. These are light years away from the maybe a tad trashy fashion styles of the Nineties with British pop groups like All Saints sporting the style in excess.
Anna Teurnell’s eagle eyes are nowadays also watching over Swedish Brand Filippa K since she was just appointed creative lead of the company that has been a household name in Scandinavia for over three decades.
Don’t you dare suggest mixing pink with blue to Anna, even if it is a tiny little pink pearl earring that I thought could give a touch of colour to this blue combo. Firm NO there. BUT leopard print will always be okay and I have my eyes on the cropped jacket soon to be released and to be forever mine. I hope.
