Bygga Bygga has started!

ByggaBygga, which is Swedish and means BuildBuild, tells you about my long time project, a loft conversion in the very south of Helsinki.

When I moved to Helsinki from London about 10 years ago I was looking for a space to use as a photographic studio. I typed in ‘garage Helsinki’ on Google and the universe gave me 304m2 in prime location in Helsinki. Previously owned by the Salvation Army, a whiteware company and an excentric artist the warehouse seemed full of potential. Luckily I am quite naive and refused to see the risks and the problems with acquiring a space like this so, yes, I bought it.

Five architects, loads of the bank’s money, many miscalculations and at least a bucket of tears and a few broken nerves later I am finally building. Hurray!
