That once rather grotty old Söderhallarna at Medborgarplatsen has been given a proper glam up. Pretty fancy in a cool industrial way it is. Probably a good thing for property owners in the area.
Give objects and buildings enough time, this one opened its doors in 1992, and what once displeased the eye will all of a sudden look at least interesting if not beautiful. The building reminds me a little of the Alessi designed water kettle from 1985 that I used to have. Could be the color combo.
I will definitely go and have shrimps by the fish dish called Sjömatbaren and when the revamped movie theatre in the same building reopens, this will be one of my popcorn destinations.
Söderhallarna is open every day from 10am for coffee, ramen, smørrebröd or meatballs or if you just want to pop in and get some Pärlans’s soft toffee or buy some cheese, fish or meat to take home. You could also just watch Swedish latte dads with the latest models of babies and prams.
